A person who pretends to be someone else online using fake photos, and sometimes a false persona, to find friends or romantic partners on the internet. Not to be mistaken for fishing for catfish.
Example Sentence: My friend thinks he’s matched with Meghan Markle on Tinder, but it’s definitely someone catfishing him.
